RECENT NEWS (updated 5/14/08) *NEW* RESULTS - Congratulations to Garrett C. and Kendrick for taking the Gold and Silver medals at the Junior Pacific Coast Championships in Men's and Women's Epee. Congratulations to all of our Summer National Qualifiers! *NEW* MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND - Fortune Fencing will be closed May 23rd to May 26th (Fri-Mon). Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, May 27th. SPECIAL EVENT - Join Amy and Geoff for a 5k run on May 26th (Memorial Day). Information on the Fiesta Days Run can be found at www.ymcacc.org. Registration forms will also be available at the front desk. *NEW* UPCOMING TOURNAMENTS - June 1st: Unrated Mixed Foil and Veteran's Mixed Foil to be held at Fortune Fencing. Check-in close times are 9am and 1pm respectively. The entry fee is $15 per event and pre-registration is not required. Birth year for the Unrated event is 1994 or earlier and 1967 or earlier for the Veteran's event. *NEW* SUMMER CAMP 2008 - The Beginning Camp (July 14th-18th) is intended for children aged 8-14 with little or no fencing experience. Games and exercises will be used to teach basic fencing, team work, and problem solving skills. The Foil, Epee and Sabre Camp (August 4th-8th) is a full day training session for experienced fencers aged 8-19. Topics covered will include: Strategy, conditioning, mental preparedness, scorekeeping, refereeing, videotaped bouting, lessons, and equipement repair. Minimum 1 year fencing experience required or consent of coaches. *NEW* CORE STRENGTHENING & FLEXIBILITY TRAINING - Beginning March 2008, Lisa Lucas will be teaching a Pilates-based class that will emphasize core and arm strengthening, stretching and overall body awareness. This class meets Saturday from 9:30-10am and the fee is $5. *NEW* ADULT BEGINNING CLASS - The next session of Epee I will start on TBA at 3pm. Please call (626) 584-7192 for more info. This class is intended for graduates of Epee I/II as well as people with previous experience. The cost is $20 per class or $70 for the month. *NEW* TOURNAMENT RESULTS - *NEW* CANCELLATION POLICY - Private lessons must be cancelled by 10am the day of the lesson (Monday-Friday) or the missed lesson will be charged to your account.
